From October 24 to 26, 2024, the IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS 2024) took place in Xi'an, where RingConn proudly participated as a sponsor. This year marks the 20th anniversary of BioCAS, uniting experts to discuss advancements in biomedical circuits and systems.
Highlighting Innovations in Health Management
During the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Guoxing, the founder and chairman of RingConn, as well as a co-chair of the IEEE Technical Committee and a distinguished professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, underscored the importance of the RingConn Gen 2 smart ring in health management. He announced a donation of 15 smart rings to support ongoing research and development.
Dr. Wu Hao, CEO of RingConn, elaborated on the pivotal role smart rings play in continuous health management, particularly in sleep monitoring and predicting women's menstrual cycles.Dr. Wu introduced how RingConn has innovated within the smart wearable sector, emphasizing its decade-long expertise in developing core technologies such as sensor chips, system integration, signal processing algorithms, and application algorithms. This robust technical foundation has led to multiple research achievements and publications. As a leader in the global smart ring market, RingConn provides long-term, accurate data collection that significantly benefits health management while ensuring comfortable wearability and meeting diverse user needs. The company’s outstanding performance in collaborative innovation between industry and academia earned it the Best Live Demonstration Award at this year’s BioCAS.
RingConn Gen 2 is notable for being the world's first smart ring to offer sleep apnea monitoring. Its sleek design features an impressive battery life of up to 12 days, marking a significant innovation in the wearable technology industry. Additionally, the successful Kickstarter campaign for the RingConn Gen 2 raised over $4 million, setting a record on the platform and driving explosive growth in this product category.
Advancing Accuracy Through Self-Developed Algorithms
RingConn is committed to enhancing data accuracy through continuous algorithm development and expanding its functional applications across sleep monitoring, women's health, and blood pressure monitoring. The company aims to become a leading integrated provider of smart medical devices and data services while leveraging its strengths to expand globally.
At the conference, RingConn algorithm engineers engaged with representatives from universities and research institutions to discuss advancements in monitoring accuracy. A dataset collected with Shanghai Ruijin Hospital assessed RingConn's performance in sleep monitoring by comparing results from subjects using both PSG and RingConn. The findings revealed that RingConn performs effectively with mean absolute errors (MAE) of 2.27 BPM for heart rate, 0.38% for blood oxygen saturation, and 12.25 minutes for total sleep time—demonstrating its potential for home sleep monitoring.
Enhancing Functional Capabilities for Comprehensive Health Monitoring
Attendees expressed significant interest in RingConn's research on predicting women's menstrual cycles through skin temperature monitoring. Current methods often rely on subjective self-reports; however, this study utilized temperature data from the RingConn Smart Ring to predict menstrual dates with an impressive accuracy of 92.55% within ±3 days.
Additionally, RingConn is collaborating with leading domestic hospitals to establish the world’s first blood pressure PPG database based on ring technology. The company is also deeply cooperating with the national shooting and archery teams to assess data monitoring related to heart rate, respiratory rate, and stress levels in professional athletes.
Commitment to Health Innovation
As a leader in the global smart health wearable market, RingConn is dedicated to its mission: "to provide unique value products and services for human health." The company emphasizes technological breakthroughs while integrating artificial intelligence with biomedical technology to enhance user experiences in health management. The team at RingConn comprises experts from various fields who continually challenge conventional thinking to drive innovation in product functionality, design, and user experience.
