In this blog post, we'll introduce a new feature in the RingConn app: Health Alerts. You'll learn about the following:
- How Health Alerts Work
- Special Scenarios Explained
Note: The RingConn app must be updated to version 2.9.0 or higher to access this new feature.
How Health Alerts Work
Health Alerts is designed to enhance your well-being by analyzing your daily habits and routines. When it detects new acute health signals, it provides risk alerts and continuous tracking. It focuses on abnormal fluctuations in heart rate or temperature, which could indicate issues such as medication side effects, alcohol consumption, bodily inflammation, or fever.
During monitoring, periods of abnormal heart rate are flagged. Typically, within one to two hours of detecting an anomaly, Health Alerts will appear in the Insights section of the app with personalized guidance and reminders:
- Automatically tracks vital sign irregularities
- Monitors heart rate and skin temperature differences
- Identifies potential causes of abnormalities
- Offers personalized health advice
Special Scenarios Explained
Why didn’t the algorithm detect irregularities during my party but only showed alerts after I fell asleep?
When drinking at a party, you’re in a high-activity environment where heart rate fluctuations can be significant and unstable. Our algorithm accounts for these activity-induced changes and does not flag them as abnormalities to avoid unnecessary alerts.
However, when you enter a resting state, such as sleeping, your heart rate should stabilize. If the algorithm detects significant heart rate irregularities during this period (such as a sharp increase due to alcohol or other factors), it will flag them as abnormal and notify you. This is because heart rate abnormalities during rest are more indicative of genuine issues and less likely to be influenced by daily activities.

Why Might There Be False Positives or Missed Detection?
Our algorithm requires time to learn (approximately one week), and if the device is not worn for an extended period, it may need to re-learn. In the early stages, data insufficiencies might lead to false positives. Irregular daily routines or sleep patterns can also contribute to inaccuracies. In such cases, you can pause the relevant monitoring and allow the algorithm to complete its learning process. Over time, it will gain a better understanding of your health, leading to more accurate assessments. If you prefer not to receive notifications, you can disable this feature in the settings.
